In 1866, Bishop Claude Marie Dubuis turned to his native France to seek help for those who were suffering, and issued a call for Religious Sisters to immigrate to Texas to help care for the sick and infirm in the name of Jesus Christ. The Sisters who answered Bishop Dubuis’ call did not speak the English language and had to leave behind everything familiar to them. It was a bold new beginning for these pioneering Sisters. They had faith, they had a mission, and they had a vision. Today, CHRISTUS Health is called to carry on this mission. Rooted in faith and committed to a journey together, we are building on the progress we have made since our inception as a healing ministry.
